Congratulations Daniel Chen, Freshman, Brandon Li, Level 6, and Max Yu, Level 5!

Congratulations to Brookfield Academy Level 9 student Daniel Chen and Level 6 student Brandon Li who each placed third in their racing divisions and both set personal records in the 500m at the 2026 Carl Cepuran Memorial Interscholastic Speedskating Challenge at the Pettit National Ice Center. Level 5 student Max Yu placed 2nd in his division and also set a personal record in the 500m. Daniel Chen's performance qualified him for the U.S. Short Track Championships in Salt Lake City this September. Max Yu's performance qualified him for the Junior C (ages 13-14) division at the 2027 U.S. Speedskating Age Group National in New Jersey. That is quite an accomplishment since Max was only 10 at the time.

 

Daniel and Brandon were joined by Olivia Chen, Emma Chen, Luke Ling, and Max Yu in representing Brookfield Academy at the competition. Together, the BA skaters earned first place among 29 schools from the United States, Canada, and Great Britain. Congratulations to all of our skaters on this outstanding accomplishment!
