BROOKFIELD ACADEMY'S ROLE WITH COVID-19

All positive COVID-19 tests, tracing, and quarantines will be handled on a case-by-case basis at school through our Health Office. We will make decisions based on the number of COVID-19 cases among staff and students. If the number of positive cases increases within a specific classroom, division, or on campus, additional protocols may be added when necessary. These additional protocols may include masking, and changes to tracing or quarantine procedures.
MASKS
Masks are optional at this time. All teachers and students are welcome and encouraged to wear masks at any time on campus. Some of our teachers have chosen to wear masks regardless of their vaccination status. Teachers/Staff who are not vaccinated are expected to wear masks indoors and in group settings or when teaching/meeting with students. Teachers, students, and staff who enter a “masked” classroom must be masked before entering the room.

Masks must meet the following requirements:
  • Well-fitted without gaps
  • Wire at the top nose area
  • More than one layer of material
  • Cannot be gaiters

POSITIVE COVID TESTS
Any student testing positive for COVID-19 must remain home for 10 days from either the onset of symptoms or a positive test result, whichever is earlier. On day 11, the student may return if symptom and fever free for 24 hours.

HEALTH RESOURCES
Brookfield Academy will not provide testing on campus but has worked with Summit Health Clinic as a licensed COVID-19 testing center. We will accept a PCR test result performed by a licensed health agency. In some situations, parents have also requested mental health resources for their children related to COVID-19. These resources can be found here.

CLASSROOM RESOURCES
During quarantine, students will continue their academics through Google Classroom with teacher support. Please reach out to your child’s respective classroom teacher by email for specific details on Google Classroom.

TRAVEL
Please contact the Health Room before you travel. A negative COVID-19 test, masking, or a period of quarantine may be necessary before your student may return to school.
