Level 6 student Emily Jing competed at the Level 7 State Gymnastics Meet, and earned an impressive 7th place All-Around finish, along with placing in the Top 5 on Bars and Top 10 on Beam and Floor. Emily trains 15-20 hours per week outside of school, so in addition to demonstrating exceptional commitment, resilience, and discipline, she's been making great progress in managing her time and finding balance between school and gymnastics. Way to go!
In early March, Eli Visor (Level 7) represented the Rocket Aquatics swim club of Menomonee Falls at the prestigious 2026 Wisconsin (WSI) 11–14 Short Course State Championships. A year after earning the Silver Age team’s “Most Improved” award, Eli advanced to the Gold Age group and set an ambitious goal: qualify for state competition.
He achieved that goal midseason, posting state-qualifying times in the 50-yard breaststroke (38.07) and 200-yard breaststroke (3:05.88). At the state meet, Eli delivered an outstanding performance, recording personal bests in the 50 breaststroke (36.41), 100 breaststroke (1:23.00), and 200 breaststroke (3:02.42). He also contributed to the team in the 50 freestyle and both the 200- and 400-yard relays.
Eli strives to improve his swimming technique, swim faster times, and cheer loudly for his teammates.
Congratulations to Isabella-Eva Sampang, Isabella Berghauer, Claire Lee, and their teammates! At the recent Jamfest Super National Dance Competition in Louisville, KY, they won a National Championship in both the Youth Large Lyrical division and Youth Small Jazz division. They also received the prized Grand Champion award after receiving the highest score out of 400+ dances over the weekend! These young ladies used this positive momentum and swept the entire All-Star Championship competition the following weekend in Wisconsin Dells. They brought home six first place wins in all six of their dances. Please cheer on these young ladies as they have qualified to compete at the Dance Summit in Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida in May where they will compete with dance teams from around the world.
Congratulations to Ilina and Ishani Joshi on the remarkable achievement of each having their writing accepted for publication in the highly regarded Helicon Yale Classics Journal. The annual publication is focused on literary works of undergraduate students and only rarely considers stories from high school students. Editors of the Helicon requested writing in Latin or English on the topic of "medicine and magic." The goal of the section was to engage Middle School students who are interested in Latin and Classics. Ilina's story was written in English and titled, The Willow Lantern. It beautifully responded to the suggested theme and included lyrical imagery, "the lantern’s glow pooled at the base of an enormous oak tree," and portrayed healing rooted in "knowledge, compassion, and bravery." Ishani submitted a story written in Latin titled, The Power of Aeneid. In it, a young Roman student of medicine and rhetoric is walking to class trying to memorize a couple lines from the Aeneid when all of a sudden he helps a very sick slave in the most unexpected way possible. This impressive national recognition is a testament to the girls' talent, dedication, and bright future in the classics.
Amelia Buckley recently helped her Elmbrook Eagles Girls 14A team earn a second-place finish at the State Tournament—the best finish in Elmbrook 14U girls hockey history. She will also be competing with her WEHL team this weekend in St. Louis at the regional tournament for a chance to advance to Nationals. If you see Amelia this week, please wish her good luck!
The Patriot's Pen essay written by Level 8 student Navy Kehoe was selected as the winning entry by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post in her hometown of Pewaukee. At the awards ceremony, she recited her essay and was recognized for her dedication, creativity, and the meaningful patriotic message she shared. Navy and her sister Alyssandra (Level 4) are pictured with a member of the Pewaukee VFW Post at the award ceremony. Congratulations!
Lily Wickman (Level 5) and Genevieve Deal (Level 6) auditioned for and were cast in the Milwaukee Ballet’s Nutcracker at the Marcus Performing Arts Center. They were both cast as soldiers in the professional production, and performed throughout the entire month of December. Fulfilling this commitment took dedication and sacrifice, but you can see that performing ballet brings these girls joy! Congratulations!
Congratulations to sophomore Elioenai Samuel. She won a local pageant in the Miss America Organization and will be competing for Miss Wisconsin's Teen in June (and hopefully afterward Miss America's Teen!). Through this, she has grown her community service initiative, White Coat Wonders, where she interviews healthcare professionals to inspire teens to pursue careers in medicine. Good Luck Elioenai!
