International Students

Brookfield Academy

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT PROGRAM
International students are accepted beginning with entry into 9th grade. To be enrolled in our international student program, we expect students to be 14 or 15 years old by the first day of school of the year they plan to enroll. International applicants adhere to the same admission process as all other candidates applying to Brookfield Academy (not including the language screening).

Brookfield Academy issues I-20s to international students and complies with all practices as recommended by SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System). Brookfield Academy is certified to enroll international students with a F-1 Visa but is not eligible to enroll students who come to the U.S. on a Cultural Exchange (J-1 Visa). Additional information on student visas is available HERE.

REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Brookfield Academy requires international students to live with an American host family. If the student does not have a host family, Brookfield Academy will help arrange one before arrival to the United States. Enrollment is contingent upon host family placement. However, exceptions can be made for any child under the 9th grade grade level based on mutually agreeable individualized circumstances of the student and family and require the child must be living in the United States with a parent.

We expect all applicants to be of good character, be hard-working and be motivated academic scholars with solid English reading, writing, and speaking skills.

It is important that all international students become part of the learning of traditions and culture of American life; not simply treat their time here as a boarding facility. We look for applicants who are eager and willing to become a part of the family life of the host family by participating in family activities such as meals, household chores, family gathering and outings.
