Level 3 Curriculum

Reading

Classics by authors such as C. S. Lewis, Laura Ingalls Wilder, and E. B. White are added to the reading selections in Level 3. These works generate the vocabulary lists. In grammar, the emphasis shifts to verbs and verb phrases, and students enjoy conjugating verbs in all three forms. Nouns, pronouns, and adjectives are also mastered at this stage. Students will have studied and learned to diagram all eight parts of speech by the end of Level 3.

Writing

In Level 3, the focus on cursive handwriting continues to build on the skills developed in Level 2, helping students gain both fluency and confidence in their handwriting. By the end of Level 3, students are expected to complete some homework assignments and write stories using cursive. All traits of writing are taught and teachers implement the different genres of writing including narrative, persuasive, descriptive, and academic research pieces.
