For 50 years, the generosity of 1000s of donors has enabled our students to create their own future. Excellent facilities allow students to move within a variety of academic settings and in different academic worlds. One day students may be conducting a highly sophisticated science experiment in a state-of-the-art science lab, the next accessing information using web technology, and the third day engaging in the reflection necessary to write the thoughtful essay for English class. Whatever the educational or extracurricular need, Development is dedicated to providing the resources to help make it happen.
In 2009, the Academy concluded a $12.5 million campus-wide capital campaign to build the new Upper School, Patriots Hall. Since then, every building on campus has undergone major capital renovations. Here are some other Development highlights:
The development philosophy rests on a fundamental belief in the importance of community engagement. Our volunteers are a major reason for the success of Development at BA. Working in collaboration with the Development Office is a mobilized and dedicated volunteer group that supports the mission, values, and beliefs of the school. More than 40 on-going fun-, friend-, and fund-raising activities are volunteer-led and volunteer-supported.
Since its beginning in 1962, it has been the philosophy of BA that philanthropic support goes directly to capital needs. No development dollars are used to subsidize tuition and operations. This is a rather unique philosophy and one that ensures responsible stewardship.
Independence, hard work, personal responsibility, respect for country, and the five stars were the ideals upon which the Academy was built. These ideals have guided the school for its first 50 years and will continue to guide it for the next 50 and beyond. Development at BA is dedicated to preserving and enhancing these ideals.
Happy 50th Anniversary BA!
