BROOKFIELD ACADEMY MIDDLE SCHOOL SUGGESTED SUPPLY LIST - Things You Need During the 2018-2019 School Year

BROOKFIELD ACADEMY WILL PROVIDE ALL STUDENTS WITH THE FOLLOWING

GENERAL SUPPLIES STUDENTS IN ALL LEVELS NEED TO PURCHASE
□        #2 Pencils with erasers, pencil case
□        Black, blue, and red pens
□        Highlighters
□        Glue Sticks
□        Loose leaf paper (student preference as to college ruled or wide ruled, plastic reinforced edges are recommended)
□        3” X 5” note cards for flash cards (multiple packs required throughout the year)
□        Corded earbuds (ear in headphones)
□        Backpack or bookbag
□        Gym clothes and shoes for students taking Phy Ed
 
ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES SPECIFIC TO LEVEL 6**
□        One 2” three-ring binder (to be used for English, Composition, and Language)
□        One 1 ½” binder specifically for Math
□        One pack of plastic divider tabs
□        One 2 pocket folder and pencil specifically for Music
□        2 separate spiral notebooks with pockets (for Geography and Language)
□        1 separate two-subject notebook (for English and Composition)
□        One book cover for English (the stretchy nylon ones are preferred; book is 9 x 7 )
□        Three subject spiral notebook with pockets, 3 Elmer’s all purpose glue sticks (large, 0.77oz), scissors, colored pencils specifically for Science

□        Scientific calculator for school and home use (We recommend the Texas Instruments TI-30X IIS calculator.)

□        2 – 1 inch durable 3–ring binders  (English and Math)
□        1 - ½ inch binder (Latin)
□        2 packs of durable plastic divider tabs
□        For students taking Spanish, French or Choir see back for additional supplies

□        2-pocket folders (at most 4)
□        One book cover per textbook (the stretchy nylon ones are preferred)
□        2-3 durable binders for organizing subject notes OR notebooks (depending on student’s organizational preferences)
□        Graph paper
□        Ruler with inches & centimeters (for home use)
□        Scientific calculator for school and home use (We recommend the Texas Instruments TI-30X IIS calculator.)
□        1 – Refillable Mead Notebook binder (recommended for Algebra and Geometry)
□        Compass and protractor for home and school use (The MS math department recommends a swing arm protractor and the Helix Graduate compass) (Geometry only)
□        2 composition notebooks
 
 
Please note that the following items are all included in the supply list above. The following will help you understand which items are needed for which classes and allow you to think about how you would like to set-up your organization system.
 
LEVEL 6
Level 6 students should NOT organize and label their folders, binders and notebooks before the first day of classes. The Level 6 advisors will help all students establish an organization system that matches their schedule.
 
LEVEL 7
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS STUDENTS NEED TO ORGANIZE BY CLASS
 
ENGLISH            1" three-ring binder (no accordion folders or soft-shell binders), 5 plastic dividers tabs, notecards, 5 different color highlighters, about 20 sheets of loose-leaf paper
HISTORY             2 notebooks (1 per semester)
MATH                  1" binder, 4 divider tabs, loose leaf paper, calculator
SCIENCE             2 composition notebooks, folder, 3 glue sticks
LATIN                  1/2” binder (for notes and handouts), loose leaf, about 350 notecards (for flashcards)
FRENCH              Binder or dedicated space within a binder for notes and handouts, loose leaf, about 350 notecards
SPANISH             1" three-ring binder (for notes and handouts), notecards, highlighters, loose leaf paper
CHOIR                 Folder or ½” inch binder (based on student preference), pencil, highlighter 
 
 
LEVEL 8

HISTORY             One 2-pocket folder with 3-hole binder insert, notebook
SCIENCE             Composition notebook, folder , glue sticks

ALGEBRA           Refillable notebook binder recommended, calculator
FRENCH              350 flashcards & dedicated section in binder for notes
