  • Maintenance Technician

    Brookfield Academy, a private, independent, college preparatory day school, is seeking a Maintenance Technician. Qualifications, duties, & responsibilities:
    • Work with faculty and students in a private school setting; prior experience in a school or similar environment is desirable.
    • Minimum of a high school education; post-secondary education, especially in a related field, is desirable.
    • Work with individuals of varied skill levels and backgrounds.
    • Keep accurate records.
    • Have a required understanding of occupational hazards involved in the position and the proper safety precautions to take.
    • Be knowledgeable of and be able to perform related working procedures in landscape and site maintenance, including but not limited to:
    • o   operation of moving equipment
    • o   fertilizing and aerating
    • o   weed control and irrigation
    • o   landscape repair
    • o   tree and shrub maintenance
    • o   operation of snow removal equipment
    • Use common hand and power tools and have knowledge of acceptable repair practices in facility and equipment maintenance.
    • Above-average mechanical aptitude is desired, as well as knowledge and ability to service, repair, and maintain small engine equipment.
    • Be knowledgeable of and be able to perform related working procedures in building maintenance, including but not limited to:
      • o   operation and repair of HVAC equipment
      • o   repair door locks and closures
      • o   general plumbing repairs
      • o   electrical repairs and troubleshooting
      • o   painting (wall and paper repairs)
      • o   basic carpentry and carpet and tile repair
      • Work without direct supervision.
      • Will be required to safely lift loads of up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
      • Be able to read and understand written instructions, operating manuals, and blueprints.
      • Respond to weather emergency situations under adverse conditions.
      • Will be required to work outdoors for extended periods of time, regardless of weather conditions.
      • This position requires a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License which must be maintained throughout employment. Also must maintain an acceptably safe driving record and be able to drive a vehicle with a manual transmission. This position may be required to qualify for and maintain a CDL license with passenger endorsement.
    • Display a neat appearance and pleasant personality and enjoy working around and with others.
    Work Hours
    • Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., 8 hours per day.
    Salary:
    • Salary commensurate with experience.

  • Middle School English Teacher

    Brookfield Academy, a private, independent, college preparatory day school, is seeking a full-time Middle School English teacher for the 2019-20 school year. Candidates with a love of teaching and an ability to relate to ambitious and motivated middle school students are highly desired. Interested applicants should have an understanding of a classical/liberal arts curriculum which is essential to the mission and philosophy of Brookfield Academy.     English Literature in Levels 6, 7, or 8 English Workshop are all possible assignments depending upon the qualifications of the candidate. Brookfield Academy fosters a collaborative, cooperative professional atmosphere. Candidates should be able to work in a team, support others, and take direction. In addition, ideal candidates should have:
    • Successful teaching experience with grades 6-8
    • Ability to teach the writing process and assess student compositions
    • Expertise in traditional grammar

  • Middle School Head Custodian

    Brookfield Academy, a private, independent, college preparatory day school, is seeking a Middle School Head Custodian. Essential Qualifications, duties, & responsibilities: 
    • Work with faculty and students in a private school setting; prior experience in a school or similar environment is desirable.
    • Have a minimum of a high school education; post-secondary education in a related field, is desirable.
    • Work with individuals of varied skill levels and backgrounds.

    • Be knowledgeable of and be able to perform related working procedures in outside site maintenance, including but not limited to:
    • o   operation of small riding and hand operated mowing equipment
    • o   operation of snow removal equipment
    • o   snow shoveling
    • Use common hand and power tools.
    • Have average mechanical aptitude, as well as knowledge and ability to provide general skill maintenance is very desirable.
    • Be knowledgeable of and be able to perform related working procedures in building maintenance, including but not limited to:
      • o   operation of HVAC equipment
      • o   operation of custodial power equipment
      • o   basic plumbing repairs (e.g., cartridges, washer replacement)
      • o   general electrical troubleshooting (e.g., tracing circuits back to breaker panels)
      • o   painting (wall and paper repairs)
      • o   floor scrubbing, finish applications, high-speed finish programs
      • Work without direct supervision.
      • Will be required to safely lift loads of up to 50 lbs. and stand for long period of time.
      • Read and understand written instructions, custodial equipment operating manuals, general building floor plans, and event set-up diagrams.
      • Respond to weather emergency situations under adverse conditions.
      • May be required to work outdoors for extended periods of time, regardless of weather conditions.
      • This position requires a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License which must be maintained throughout employment. Also must maintain an acceptably safe driving record and be able to drive a vehicle with a manual transmission. This position may be required to qualify for and maintain a CDL license with passenger endorsement.
