Entrepreneurs Club Teams Win Toyota Marketing Contest
The Upper School Entrepreneurs Club recently participated in a grassroots marketing challenge for Scion cars sponsored by Wilde Toyota of Milwaukee. Four teams came up with creative ideas to market the cars to "Generation Y." Representatives from Wilde Toyota/Scion and from Toyota’s midwestern corporate office judged the students’ market plans. One of the judges commented that the students’ marketing concepts "far exceeded our expectations." Wilde Toyota presented the teams with scholarship awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, for a total of $10,000.
French Exam Results Are In
Middle School and Upper School students performed very well on the National French exam. Two students earned first-place rankings, two more earned second place, and three placed third in the state. Across all five levels of study, 21 Brookfield Academy students ranked among the top ten per level in Wisconsin.
BA Idol Winners Announced
The judges selected five winners in three divisions from the May 3 performance. The audience at the Middle and Upper School Choral Concert on May 14 will listen to the finalists and cast their votes for their favorites. Finalists are David McCormack, guitar; Savin Pillai, dance; Jane Riecan, voice; Rose Mueller, voice; and Amanda Doyle, voice.
BA Idol Contest May 3
Singers, dancers, musicians, and forensics competitors will compete in the “BA Idol” Contest on Saturday, May 3. After an all-day (10:00 am – 5:00 pm) talent competition open to students in grades 4 – 12, the winners will present a concert at 6:30 pm in the Constitution Hall Multipurpose Room. Judges will select one winner from each division.
Audience members will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite performer May 14, during the intermission of the Spring Choral Concert, which begins at 7:00 pm, also in Constitution Hall.
Both concerts are free and open to the public.
Lower School Donates Sewing Supplies
Lower School students collected sewing items for donation to people who lost tailoring or dry cleaning businesses in Hurricane Katrina. The items, included six used sewing machines, will be used to restart the businesses. More items were collected than could fit in Mrs. Simonsen's pickup truck!
