Senior Fred Willis guided Brookfield Academy to three state
titles at the WIAA State Track and Field Championships in La Crosse
on June 3-4.
Willis won the 100-meter dash for the second straight year with a
time of 10.82, besting the field by three tenths of a second.
Later in the meet, Willis claimed the 200-meter dash for the
second time in as many years. This year's finish of 21.81 broke the
meet record.
Brookfield Academy won its third state title in the 4x100-meter
relay. Junior Ethan Jaynes, junior Max Wrenn, freshman Ryan Send,
and Willis finished in a time of 42.51, breaking the meet record.
BA beat the rest of the field by more than half a second.
The boys track and field team finished fifth at the state meet,
five points away from repeating as the team state champions.
On the girls side, BA had one entrant, the 4x100-meter relay team.
The team of sophomore Mary Liz Kim, senior Catherine Courchaine,
junior Bailey Vipond,
and freshman Mackenzie Bonk placed second to cap a fantastic
season.
