Scholarships and Endowed Funds

Competitive annual scholarships are available to help with tuition, particularly at Brookfield Academy's Upper School. Students qualify for these scholarships on the basis of testing. It is very important to note that scholarship testing is offered only once per year, typically in January. Registration is required for scholarship testing.

Annual Scholarships

Upper School students are awarded scholarships in several different annual scholarship programs administered by the Academy. These scholarships make a college preparatory education at Brookfield Academy available to a wide range of students.

Brookfield Academy Board of Directors Merit Scholarships
Based on the results of a scholarship examination, several awards of up to $5,000 are made available each year to Academy students either currently enrolled or accepted for admission.

Five Star Merit Scholarships
This freshman scholarship program provides $7,000 scholarships for up to four entering freshmen who demonstrate high academic achievement and exemplary character. Awards are based on an essay and an interview with school administrators. The one-year scholarships are not renewable, but continuing students may apply for any of the other generous competitive scholarships Brookfield Academy awards annually.

Milwaukee Foundation Ronald and Marjorie Krizek Family Fund Scholarship
Two $3,000 scholarships are awarded based on need to individuals with demonstrated academic achievement who are residents of Waukesha or Milwaukee County, exhibit strength of character, and have demonstrated leadership skills through co-curricular activities.

David M. and Barbara B. Leist Entrepreneurial Spirit Award Scholarship
This program consists of two $2,000 grants named on behalf of the benefactors, to provide financial assistance to two incoming freshman students for the purpose of promoting and fostering the entrepreneurial spirit of the free market.

Robert W. Pieper and Josephine Pieper Foundation City of Milwaukee Scholarship Program
As part of its commitment to the city of Milwaukee and its residents, and in recognition of the outstanding academic program offered by Brookfield Academy, the Pieper Foundation provides up to five renewable $5,000 awards annually, based on residency in the city of Milwaukee, proven financial need, academic promise, an essay, and an interview.

Endowed Scholarships

There are six endowed scholarship programs administered by the Academy providing assistance to students .

J. Robert Drez Scholarship Fund
The J. Robert Drez Scholarship Fund was established by students of former Brookfield Academy teacher and administrator J. Robert Drez, to honor a man who was defined by both his scholarship and his love for his students. The Drez scholarship memorializes a teacher who lived for his students by assisting more students to enjoy a Brookfield Academy education. The award amount fluctuates annually, based on funds available.

William J. Grede and Margaret W. Grede Freedom Scholarship
The Freedom Scholarship Program awards three deserving Academy students either currently enrolled or accepted for admission. Awards are made on the basis of a scholarship application and an essay on the relation of freedom to a given topic. This program seeks to instill a lifelong understanding and appreciation for the rights and responsibilities of an individual's God-given freedom by encouraging excellence of thought and writing in the area of human liberty.

Janet Grede Jacobs Reach for the Stars Scholarship
Established in memory of Mrs. Janet Grede Jacobs by her husband, Burleigh Jacobs, her family, and her friends, the Janet Grede Jacobs Reach for the Stars Scholarship is awarded to a student who exhibits personal integrity, leadership potential, and a strong work ethic. The merit-based scholarship award is given to an individual who constantly strives for excellence and "to do his/her best in all he/she undertakes."

Ajay and Sanjay Kuttemperoor Scholarship
Established by Ajay and Sanjay Kuttemperoor, in appreciation of the education they received at Brookfield Academy through Level 8, this fund annually awards one Middle School student who demonstrates strong academic achievement, exemplary character, participation in extracurricular activities, and financial need.

Dr. Narinder K. Sidhu Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Narinder K. Sidhu, late wife of Dr. Paramjit Sidhu. The program provides an annual, non-renewable merit-based scholarship to an Academy student completing Level 8 who is entering the freshman class of the Upper School. The award is based on a qualifying exam.

Agnes and Henry Sullivan Scholars Program
This scholarship program consists of two grants, named on behalf of the benefactors. The grants are awarded on the basis of a qualifying examination, financial need, strength of character, and demonstrated community service. Awards are renewable, providing a grade average of 88 or above is maintained.

Endowed Funds

Richard and Carol Bayerlein Family Foundation Fund for the Lower School
The Richard and Carol Bayerlein Family Foundation Fund supports capital needs and improvements in the Lower School at Brookfield Academy. This fund was established to recognize Brookfield Academy for its outstanding dedication to its mission and respect for traditional American values and beliefs.

Walter S. Davis Memorial Five Star Exemplar Faculty Scholarship Fund
In honor of Brookfield Academy founder Walter S. Davis, the Five Star Exemplar Faculty Scholarship Fund was established to promote and nurture the continuing professional development of selected Brookfield Academy faculty members who clearly exemplify the values and ideals of Brookfield Academy, as represented by the Five Stars. The award recipient is chosen by the Head of School on an annual basis.

Amy King Dream and Achieve Fund
Outstanding student, thespian, vocalist, athlete, alumnae, and friend: Amy King ('01) was all of these and more at Brookfield Academy. When Amy passed away in 2003, the Academy lost a truly unique member of the BA family. The fund established in her honor by her family supports students who seek out opportunities to challenge themselves beyond what they thought possible, thereby emulating Amy's legacy at the Academy.

William L. Law Memorial Fund for Economic Education
This fund honors an Academy founding father whose passion for learning shaped and guided Brookfield Academy's philosophy and mission. Reflecting one of Bill Law's many academic interests, the study of economics, this fund provides financial support for an individual engaged in the pursuit of economic education.

Awards

The William L. Law Award for Economic Excellence
The Robert W. Pieper and Josephine Pieper Foundation, in memory of Foundation Director Bill Law and his love for economics, established an annual $1,000 award presented at graduation to the Brookfield Academy senior demonstrating the greatest passion for the study of economics.
