Board of Directors

The Brookfield Academy Board of Directors is comprised of individuals who bring special talents, insight, and knowledge that greatly benefit the Academy. They bring wisdom and experiences to their responsibility to ensure the long-term viability of the school and to foster the Academy's mission and philosophy now and in the years to come. The Board includes current and alumni parents, as well as alumni of the school. The Academy is grateful that they have volunteered their time in order to help lead BA into the future.

William R. Law ('71)

William R. Law

Mr. William R. Law '71 has been a Brookfield Academy Board member since 1988 and currently serves as Board Chair.  He is the son of one of the school's founding families, William L. and Mary Law, and was present on the first day of classes in 1962.  He most recently served as Board Vice Chair and as Chair of the Buildings and Grounds Committee.  BJ received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University in 1975 and entered the family leather tanning business, Law Tanning Company.  He and his wife, Michelle Waldron '73 Law, also a BA graduate, have two sons who graduated from BA - Ryan '98 and Jonathan '02.  He counts his hobbies as bicycling, golfing, fishing, and BA.

 

Thomas A. Anderson

Anderson Thomas

Mr. Thomas A. Anderson has been on the Board since 1999 and currently chairs the Finance Committee.  He and his wife, Barbara, have two sons who graduated from the Academy:  Steven '04 and Brian '06.  Tom served in the US Army from 1969-71.  He received an undergraduate degree in accounting in 1969 and a masters in accounting in 1972, both from UW-Whitewater.  Tom, a CPA, currently runs two businesses:  Midwest Flexible Hose, Inc. and Lift Truck Specialists, Inc.   He also serves on his church board as financial secretary.  His hobbies include golf and traveling.

 

 

Michael Francis

Mr. Michael J. Francis is a BA parent and currently serves as Secretary and Vice Chair of the Finance Committee.  He and his wife, Marchella, have five children at the Academy:  Peter, Josie, Spencer, Ian, and Maria.  Mike is President and Chief Investment Officer of Francis Investment Counsel, LLC, located in Pewaukee, WI.  He is a graduate of Carleton College with a degree in economics and Marquette University Law School.  Currently, he also serves on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Metropolitan Milwaukee and the Junior Knights Football Club.

 

Daniel Geenen

Daniel Geenen

Dr. Daniel J. Geenen is a current BA parent, serves on the Development Committee, and co-chaired the Soar with the Stars capital campaign.  He and his wife, Carol, have four children at the Academy:  Matt, Bryan, Ellie, and Lauren.  Dan is a physician with GI Associates and serves on the Alumni Association Board of the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he received his MD after completing undergraduate work at Marquette University.

 

Jeff Harris
Jeff Harris

Mr. R. Jeffrey Harris co-chaired the Soar with the Stars capital campaign.  He and his wife, Cynthia, have one BA graduate:  Sarah.  A lawyer and former general counsel to Apogent, he now invests in a number of private and public biotechnology companies, as well as assisting them with organization and board work.  He obtained a degree in economics from Ohio Wesleyan University and a JD from The Ohio State University College of Law.  He is on the boards of the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts and Tall Pines Conservancy.

 

Mike Malatesta

Mike Malatesta

Mr. Michael T. Malatesta is a BA parent and serves on the Development Committee.  He and his wife, Jamy, have two children at the Academy:  Morgan and Rachel.  He is a graduate of Dickinson College and is President of Advanced Waste Services, Inc.  Mike serves on the Town Bank of Elm Grove Board of Advisors and is involved with the Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful organization.

 

Malaika Mathai Kodali ('86)

Malaika Kodali

Dr. Malaika Mathai '86 Kodali is an alumna of Brookfield Academy and a current BA parent.  She and her husband, Satish, have three boys at the Academy:  Rajiv, Ravi, and Sanjiv.  Malaika was in the Target MD program at UW-Milwaukee and graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin.  She is a physician practicing internal medicine.  Malaika has been a member of the Board since 2003 and currently chairs the Education Committee.


Michael Simmons ('80)

Michael Simmons

Mr. Michael D. Simmons '80 is a BA alumnus and serves on the Finance Committee.  A graduate of Ripon College, he earned an MBA from UW-Madison.  He heads Simmons Financial Management, Inc.  He also chairs the board of the Congregational Home and is Treasurer of First Congregational Church of Wauwatosa. Michael and his wife, Kerri, have two children at BA: Ryan and Rachel.

 

Mary J. York

Mary York

Mrs. Mary J. York, a Board member since 1986, has served on various committees and currently chairs the Development Committee.  Mary graduated with a BA from Northwestern University in 1967.  She and her husband, Merrill, have three children who graduated from the Academy:  David York '88, Susan Jeide '91, and Carolyn Nowacki '95.  Mary's grandchildren now attend BA.
